M.V. ORCADIA - a name steeped in the maritime history of the Orkney Islands. The first scheduled passenger and cargo shipping services to the North Isles of Orkney began in 1864 with a small wooden steamer, the Quarry Maid, which was renamed the Orcadia. Orkney Islands Shipping Company operated the last vessel to carry the name M.V. Orcadia. She operated between Kirkwall and the North Isles until 1990.
